Netscape and a growing list of third-party partners have created a variety of demos that illustrate the capabilities of Netscape Media Server and Netscape Media Player. Before you try demos, however, there are several steps you should follow to ensure the best possible performance with your computer and network.
DOWNLOAD
AND
INSTALL
MEDIA
PLAYER
If you have not already done so, download
the appropriate Netscape Media Player for your computer. Install Media
Player using the installer or script supplied with the software, and follow
the installer's instructions.
RESIZE
THE
NETSCAPE
NAVIGATOR
WINDOW
The Netscape demos work best with a computer display set for at least
800-by-600 resolution. Maximize Navigator's window to full size.
CONFIGURE
MEDIA
PLAYER
FOR
YOUR
NETWORK
If your network is behind a firewall, if you have difficulty receiving
streaming audio from the demos, or if you receive the message "No
UDP data came from the server! Possible firewall issue," you will
need to use the TCP/IP transport for audio. To enable TCP/IP, launch any
of the demos. When you see the Media Player plug-in, which looks like this:
right-click on the Media Player (Option-click for the Macintosh) and choose Properties. Select Connection, then check Request TCP/IP transport.
